A VIDEO TUTORIAL: Creating Backgrounds with Ink...for Water Color Card Making

I shared a few water colored  cards on Facebook last week...
created with Blue Knight Rubber Stamps New Release stamp set called...
WILD FLOWERS.
This stamp is delightful to create cards with
and looks particularly beautiful when water colored, I think.
I'll show you the cards...again...and then will share the video below






When I shared the cards here on my blog...
and at numerous groups on Facebook...
I received lots of questions about how I created the card...
and lots of requests for a video tutorial.
So..today..while working on some cards out in my studio...
I thought...let me put together a quick impromptu video
focusing on creating the inked background for the water colored card.
So..today...I've got this PART 1 video.
I'll do PART 2 later this week 
where I'll show you how I embossed and painted the image

      Loved the cards you made. They are beautiful. I am ordering the toothbrush make up brushes, so I can make watercolor paper.

    Michelle,love your video and the blending brushes! The handles give you a lot of control! The spritzing of the water and scrape texture to the ink along with the paper towels. I have used them before for a backing instead of pattern paper !

    Love your backgrounds. I bought a set of make up brushes for 8.50 on Amazon. You can't go wrong for either 12-15 dollars. They are identical to the expensive brushes being sold. Clean them with a dry microfiber cloth. Can't wait to see part 2/video.

      I used Distress Ink and Distress Oxide for the backgrounds.
      Peeled Paint...Worn Lipstick......Peacock Feathers...and another blue that I can't recall right now...sorry.
      If you send me a pm via FB...I'll check the colors next time I am in my studio...and will get back to you.
      Peeled Paint is the green that I used most

    Thanks! I bought watercolor paper at JoAnne’s. I hope it works okay. Playing with new stuff is half the fun, right?! 😁 As for fast talking, if we miss something, we can pause or back up the video. 😁

      Yes...in the case of you listening to me......pause is a good thing....

      Diane...I've never tried Janne's water color paper...
      I love Spectrum Noir AQUA card stock for water coloring...I order from Crafters Companion..but I think that Ive seen it on AMAZON as well...the price is good..and it holds up to water nicely..no pilling etc...

    I agree about the brushes! I've purchased several inexpensive ones from Amazon and they're perfect for my purposes. You're backgrounds are great - I'm going to search for your net video - I make backgrounds and then don't know what to put on top of them so I"m anxious to see you watercoloring on them!

      It's aways great to find an awesome tool that allows us to truly enjoy our card making.
      The part 2 video might be something you enjoy...
      I stamp...heat emboss and water color right over the background...

      Wildflowers is at the very top of my favorite floral image stamp list in the #1 spot!
