Sometimes...
a stamp set is simply TOO cute...
and you find yourself smiling.
Monsters 4 Celebrations (by The Stamps of Life's ) is one of those stamp sets.
I wanted to use some new-to-me Distress OXIDE ink that I got a few weeks ago...
and specifically wanted to see how they might work on LCIs NO COLOR Organic Card Stock
and.. I thought that I'd make the cute little monsters part of this next card project.
In addition to the Distress Oxides Monsters stamp set
and Gmund No Color Card Stock noted above
I used the following to create this card:
Arched Die set: My Favorite Things -Arched STAX Dies
LCI Curious Metallic Card Stock: Mandarin and Ebony
Sentiment: Reverse Confetti - Celebrations
Embellishment: Nuvo Jewel Drops
Monster Coloring: Copic markers
Die Cutting: GEMINI Die Cutting Machine
I used a large dauber to apply an assortment of Distress Oxide ink colors
to the No Color Card Stock and then gave it a little spritz of water
to allow the ink to react
I let the spritzed card stock dry (it dried very quickly...within a few minutes)
I positioned 2 of the Arched Stax dies where I wanted them on the inked card stock panel...
then die cut them by sending them thru my GEMINI die cutting machine.
I positioned the Copic colored monsters in the little windows...secured them in place...
then backed them with the Ebony Metallic card stock.
I then secured the Mandarin metallic mat layer to the scored and folded card base
and placed the monster panel on top of the Mandarin card stock
using a large piece of self adhesive fun foam for added lift and dimension.
I stamped the sentiment on a small piece of inked and spritzed card stock...
and hand cut it to create a banner shape...
and then matted the banner with the same Mandarin metallic card stock..
positioning it with small foam dimensionals.
When all of the pieces were in place and the card was complete...
I added some Nuvo Jewel Drops in assorted colors to the card front
and WHA-LA
I had a card!
these little monsters are simply TOO cute...
I just had to share a close up of these happy guys.
I'm really happy with how all of the elements came together...
and was also happy to see that the Gmund No Color Organic Card Stock
worked beautifully with the Oxide inks and water spritzing.
(There was no warping..pilling or thinning of the card stock when the water was spritzed onto it)
It's always fun to give new products and techniques a try.
This card had a few new "tries" for me...
and I'm happy to say they all worked well...came together nicely
and are "things" ...products and techniques ...that I will definitely revisit in the future.
I hope that this card project has inspired you to try some new products...and techniques...
and to explore your own personal creative potential.
Thanks for visiting!
Have a great day, my crafty and creative friends..
Michelle.
