Day #3: Catherine Scanlon New Release and Daily Giveaway Week

Hello!
Welcome to Day #3 of Catherine Scanlon New Release and Daily Giveaway Week here at my blog!

I'm not going to chat a lot today...Because I'm really excited to share a card that I created with a fabulous and scrumptious stamp ...with you!

This Strawberry Cake stamp is the fabulous (and scrumptious) stamp that I used to create today's card...and you can find it, along with  lots of other fabulous Catherine Scanlon Designs stamps,  HERE, at the Art Gone Wild web site

I had THE BEST time creating this card!
I started by stamping the Strawberry Cake image on Spectrum Noir Ultra Smooth card stock (My fave for Copic and PanPastel and pencil coloring)
Next, I chose the Copic colors that I wanted to use to color the image...mostly browns and red...and a few greens for the berry tops.
I stamped the image with Memento Tuxedo Black ink...and began coloring.
When the coloring was as I wanted it to be I used a mini scallop rectangle die to cut out the image piece.
Next, I chose the matting layers.
I always forget that I have a nice stash of glitter paper...but this time...I remembered!!...
And so I chose a beautiful red glitter for one mat and chocolate brown for the other mat layer.
I put the card together...positioning the image piece with fun foam for added dimension.
I loved the stamp when I first saw it in the package...
But when the card was done...I REALLY loved this stamped image....a lot!

The red strawberries...the bold red glitter...and the deep brown tones of the cake all come together nicely, I think.
(I'm so glad that I remembered that I had a stash of glitter card stock!)

This stamp and this card makes me smile.
(I'm not sure that I want to send it to anyone...I might have to keep it...forever
Better yet...I think that I need to make a stack of this card so that I can happily send and share them with others.

I hope that this beautiful and scrumptious stamp and card have inspired you today!

Day #2: Catherine Scanlon Designs New Release and Daily Giveaway Week

Hello and welcome to Day #2 of Catherine Scanlon New Designs and Daily Giveaway Week!

Before I share today's cards...let me ask you a question...
Did you visit the blog yesterday...and share a comment...so that you'll be in on yesterday's giveaway?
If not, you can visit yesterday's blog post and see 3 wonderful cards, and share a comment for your Daily Giveaway entry!

But first, let me show you a few cards that I whipped up with Catherine Scanlon's New Release Geranium stamp.
I was excited to see this stamp for the first time because it took me back to my childhood and the beautiful geraniums that my grandma used to have on the fire-escape outside of her kitchen window.

This Geranium stamp shouted WATER COLOR to me...
And I listened.
But then, it also shouted COPICS to me
And...I listened again.

Which means that I created 2 cards with this wonderful stamp.
One heat embossed and water colored
And..one Copic colored.

First up...the Copic colored version.

I blended a small assortment of pink tones to create the bloom and used subtle green tones for the centers.
After the bloom and leaves were colored, I cut the image piece to the size that I wanted for the card front and inked the edges with green ink, using a Ken Oliver Stencil brush. I made sure o not bring the ink too close to the image because I wanted to create the effect of light behind the geranium.
The matting layers are black and a deep pink.

The second card is the heat embossed & water colored version of this wonderful Geranium stamp

To create this cards....First, I went through my stash of water colored backgrounds...and chose one that I wanted to use (Yes...I create water colored background pieces and try to always keep a hefty sized stash on hand for those times when I want to create a card with a water colored a stamped image).
After I chose the background piece, I stamped the image with Versamark and then heat embossed it with fine detail gold embossing powder.
I love purple geraniums, so I chose an assortment  or purple Distress Ink pads to paint the floral art of the image and an assortment of green Distress ink pads to paint the leaves. I used yellow tones for the centers of the petals.

I chose the sentiment from Catherine Scanlon's Words of Wisdom stamp set and stamped it with green ink

Catherine Scanlon's style is my style...and in the world of rubber stamps, I think that her style is a wonderful  way....unique.
I am especially fond of her floral designs, and so creating a few cards with this big beautiful Geranium stamp made my crafty little heart happy.

I hope that seeing one stamp used two different ways ...with two different end results has inspired you.

If you've got a USA mailing address AND if you'd like a chance to win the Catherine Scanlon Geranium stamp...take a sec to share a comment below.
If you're the lucky winner, Catherine will send this beautiful stamp to you!

Thanks for visiting today.
Looking forward to seeing you tomorrow when I'll be sharing something scrumptious with you!
