1200 "Bookmarks" ...and the Muzzy Giveaway Winner!

Hello my crafty friends...

Yes...
The bookmark making continues to go on here in my studio!
1200 of them to be exact!

But this is a different kind of "bookmark"

A friend recently had her book published (YAY Jill!)
When she was first published a few months ago...
she asked me to come up with something that she can hand out (promotion-like)...
or could sign...
and could also give out with each book that is purchased at a signing or event...
as she travels state to state..
event to event...
promoting and signing her book.

When we first talked about this..
Jill was starting with a blank slate...
no idea as to what she wanted...or needed...
but she knew that she needed "something"

As for me...
my wheels starting turning...
I immediately knew that in whatever I whipped up...
I wanted to surprise her by including an image of her book cover...

so...I had to call upon my (not so stellar) computer skills...
and...combined them with my card making skills..
I hoped to come up with something that would work...but that wasn't very labor intensive...
because I new that I'd be making thousands and thousands and thousands of them over time.

This is what I can up with...
I was thrilled when Jill loved the proto-type...
and asked me to create the first 1000 bookmarks
...and that's when it all began...
me...and the thousands upon thousands of bookmarks.
haha

Each time that Jill needs more..
I create them in an assortment of background mat layers...using heavy weight shimmer card stock
these babies are no fly-weights...
they're nice and heavy and stiff...
There also wider than the standard bookmark...
because they double as a handout...promo item...
and are given to "everyone" that Jill meets at a signing or event...
or in passing...
*not only to those who purchase a book.

Over the last few months...I have cut and created reams and reams and reams ...
and reams...
of  card stock...
and have created THOUSANDS upon THOUSANDS of these "bookmarks"

This week...as Jill plans her next signing trip(s) to Florida and California
she asked for an additional 1200 "bookmarks"

So thats what's been keeping me busy...

At the moment...
they're almost done...
and will be shipped out to her on Saturday.
(*By the way...if you're a book lover...and would like to purchase a copy of Jill's book...
the purchase info is all shown in the bookmark photos above
OR
If you are interested in having Jill participate at an event you can contact her via Facebook HERE )

So..now that you know what's been keeping me busy...
On we go.... to other things...

I have a Giveaway Winner to announce!

It's Wednesday! ~ Inspiration Design Team Project Day with Sheena's Sea Shells

It's Wednesday!
and..
That means that it Crafter's Companion Inspiration Design Team Project Day...
here at my blog!

Christmas in July was lots of fun...
with 4 great, colorful Christmass-y projects.
I hope that you were inspired to get started with creating your holiday and Christmas cards!

Now, though...
it's time to shovel away the snow...
and it's time to bring a little bit of Summer to you
with a Sea Shell card.

I'll provide a complete supply list at the end of the blog post, as I always do...
but will give you some basic info now, as well.

I created this weeks card with Sheena's A Little Bit Scenic - Sea Shells stamp set...
some Shimmer card stock for matting...layering and for a card base...
Spectrum Noir Ultra Smooth  cardstock...
...some Glitter marker for a bit of sparkle...
and colored the Sea Shells with Spectrum Noir (Alcohol) markers.
I used a deckled edge oval die to create a window/frame...
and cut the sea shells out with the Scan N Cut2.
I used vellum for stamping the sentiment
The pretty Coastal Pearl Shimmering card stock
was positioned with foam mounting tape attached to it's outer edges
 to create a dimensional window-frame.

You can see the beautiful shimmer on the sea shells in this photo...
*Thank you Spectrum Noir Clear Overlay Sparkle Marker
When creating the grouping of sea shells...I use  foam dimensionals to place a few of them.
I didn't want to hide any of the pretty sea shells...
or make the window opening smaller to accommodate placement of a sentiment...
so I opted to place the sheer vellum sentiment banner across the upper corner

Once again...
a Sheena Douglass brings us a stamp set that inspires creativity
and allows card makers...like you and I...
to explore our card making capabilities in new and wonderful ways!

Thanks for visiting ...
I'll look forward to sharing my Crafter's Companion Inspiration Design Team Project
with you next week...
as well as all of my card making projects between now and then!
have a great...and fantastically creative day!
Michelle
