Day #4: Catherine Scanlon New Release and Daily Giveaway Week!

Hello and welcome back to Day #4 of Catherine Scanlon New Release and Daily Giveaway Week, here at my blog!

Today I'm sharing a few cards, created with 2 different stamp sets:
Hydrangea Thanks
and...Floral Corner.

You can find both stamp sets HERE: at the Art Gone Wild web site along with lots of other wonderful Catherine Scanlon Designs stamps, and the Words of Wisdom stamp set that I chose for stamping sentiments on a few of today's cards.

So let's see these gorgeous stamps...become....cards!

First, I've got 2 Hydrangea Thanks cards to share with you.

The first card was created by combining inking..stenciling...and heat embossing...

I started creating this card by inking and blending the background with and assortment of Distress Oxide Ink colors.
I laid a leaf stencil over the inked piece.
Next, I laid 2 baby wipes over the stencil and lightly misted the wipe with water.
I pressed down on the wipes and removed the wipes after a few minutes....revealing the bleached out look of the large leaves (from the stencil)
I let the inked stenciled piece dry completely (emphasis on completely) and then I stamped the image with Versamark ink.
I applied white embossing powder and heat set it.
I chose a sentiment from the Words of Wisdom stamp set to complete the card front sized image piece.
I chose a shimmery white  card stock and a deep plum like colored card stock for the matting layers.
When I assembled the card, I used fun foam when positioning the matted image piece.
Creating this inked background was lots of fun..and something that I hadn't done in a while
While I enjoy coloring and water coloring, it was a nice change of pace to "just" heat emboss the Hydrangea Thanks image for this card.
In the end, I was happy with how the card turned out, and with how the heat embossed white image looked on the inked and stenciled background.

I wanted to water color the second Hydrangea Thanks image for the second card 

I chose a water color background piece from my big wonderful stash of water colored pieces...and then I stamped and heat embossed the image over the water colored piece of card stock using fine detail gold embossing powder.
I used an assortment of ink colors to water color the image.
This stamp comes with a beautiful sentiment stamp.
I stamped it with green ink, onto a small piece of water colored card stock.
Next, I chose the mat layers...coral-like card stock  and metallic gold card stock.
I also matted the sentiment piece.

Both the matted image piece and the matted sentient piece were positioned with fun foam for added dimension 

Gold heat embossing is so beautiful, I think, and it really looks extra wonderful when metallic gold card stock is used for matting,

I've 2 more  card to share with you today!
The second stamp that I used to create the next 2ccards is: Floral Corner

I used PanPastels to color this image and the background....did lots of blending..and had lots of fun coloring this card

It's been MANY years since I've used PanPastels...and is was nice to work with them again.
After the image piece was colored I chose a sentiment from the Words of Wisdom stamp set for the front of the card.
For matting...I chose a deep purple colored card stock that went well with the colors of the blooms

I loved using this stamp so much, and wanted to do another version while I had the stamp out....
Tis time, I colored the image with Copic markers....

 I wanted to use come Autumn-like colors for this card....
After I chose all of the Copic marker colors...and colored the image...I added this favorite sentiment from the Words of Wisdom stamp set.
Then, I chose a stitched rectangle die to die cut the image piece.
Next, I left the die cut image piece in the die....which allowed me to use the die as a stencil to ink the background lightly with green ink, using a Ken Oliver Stencil Brush.
By using the die as a stencil, I was able to get a nice clean white edge around the image piece.
I chose matte black and metallic bronze card stock for matting and positioned the image piece with fun foam for aded dimension.
And wha-la!
I wound up with this card!

 I wanted an Autumn-like card...and I think that I got an Autumn-like card!
I have to say...isn't it amazing how different an image can look based on what you color with and which color palette you choose?

I enjoyed creating all of today's cards...
I got to use two of Catherine Scanlon's beautiful floral image stamps ...I inked...and stenciled...I heat embossed ....did some water coloring...and I reunited with PanPastels...
And...in the end...I had 3 cards that I was very happy with.
So many things that bring me lots of card making joy!
