Next Up (Yippee!!): Catherine Scanlon's Cup and Vine

Whenever I go to one of my stamp drawers to get out a particular stamp...
I always have a roving eye..
and that always results in me pulling out stamps that catch my eye.
They go to a spot next to the studio worktable
where I have a small stack of stamps that constitute my card-to-do list.
I try to keep that little stack of stamps and stamp sets to less than 4...or 5
(for no particular reason, other than it a makes the to-do list seem do-able.
as opposed to having 20 stamp sets out...that may never get used....
or will just sit there...and will be forgotten about)

This Catherine Scanlon Designs stamp (Cup and Vine)
was at the top of the little to-do stack...
and today was the day that I inked it up...
and gave it a water-color-y spin!

I haven't used white embossing powder in a while...
so it was on my mind to stamp out a few of this wonderful image...
and to heat boss each of the 4 images in a different color EP.
So...I've got a white...a black...and 2 gold

and...
in the end...
this is what I wound up with
I do have a fave...
(Don't I always?)

Anyway...
Here's what I did with this fantastic image.
Me...
some Crafter's Companion water color card stock...
a whole lot of Altenew Crisp Ink colors...
some paint brushes..
some PTI card stock for card bases...
and some LCI Metallic card stock for matting.
and...
each bloom has a touch of Clear Wink of Stella
(as aways..I wish that the shimmery glistening Wink of Stella would show up better in the photos)

First up....
white embossed...
with a beautiful ruby red colored bloom
(Altenew ruby/pink tones are gorgeous)

and a close-up...

and...
one of the 2 gold embossed images
with purple blooms
I've always liked purple and green together when creating garden themed cards..
as well as purple and yellow...
(This card has both!)

Yay!...you can see the Wink of Stella in this photo!

My sweetheart, Gary, chose this one as his fave...
He liked the black embossing and the colors...
(I'm so lucky to have Gary as my #1 card cheerleader...and critic.)
His interest in me and my card making is always genuine...and when I appear at his studio door with a new card in hand (as I do multiple times a day)...
he always stops what he is doing to chat about the card with me....
(Unless of course he's recording a show)

and a close-up

and then there's this one....
(here's where I get giddy with excitement)
THIS is MY fave!!
I just love this image....
and everything that goes along with it in this card....
the details...the colors...the mat layer matching the flowers...
the contrast  of the colors against each other...
and against the crisp white card base...

I love the bright color of the blooms together with the blue cup.
and...
there's that Wink of Stella summer again!
The pink metallic card stock mat layer is a perfect complement to the blooms.
(and the gold embossing is my fave of the 3.....Gold, black...or white)

Once again...
I have really enjoyed creating a card with a Catherine Scanlon Designs stamps...
I'm happy that I have a nice collection of her designs...
all waiting to get inked up for the first time...
and water colored!
I already have my eye on another of Catherine's stamps...
and hope to give it a first try this weekend!

Thanks for visiting, today!
An now it's time for you to visit Art Gone Wild

  1. Hi Michelle! I've just stumbled across your blog and seen your amazing Catherine Scanlan artwork. I love Catherine's stamps and you have made a terrific job of colouring them with the different colour outlines. I'm really tempted to try this technique with some other stamps that I have, and maybe, as you obviously like them, I might have to treat myself to some Altenew ink pads as well. Thanks for all the inspiration, I must have a look through the rest of your blog now and see what else you have done-I think my purse might take a beating if I follow all your recommendations!!
Thanks for sharing your work, it's much appreciated. Very best wishes,
    Judy xx
