Creating Multiples of a Very Sweet Birthday Bear Card

I always create cards in multiples.
I can't recall when I last made ONE card...
Sometimes...
I'll create 3 or 4 of a card that I am working on.
Sometimes...
I create many more...
a dozen...25.....40...
My feeling is...
If I have everything out...
I might as well make more than one!
(I actually find creating cards in multiples...is very relaxing...my workspace doesn't get out of control messy and chaotic...and I am always happy when I have a nice stack of cards to add to my "stash"...
or...

Other card makers who create card singularly
often ask me how it is that I don't get bored creating multiples...
they ask me how I get organized to take on, what they perceive, as being a "chore"...a "task"...
a..."big job"

The truth is...
It  never feels like a "chore" or "job" to me...
it's always enjoyable...
and, as I said....relaxing.

So..
I thought that I'd invite you to join me...
as I set out to create 12 of an adorable birthday bear cards!

First....
I gathered up all of the supplies and tool that I'd need...
Card stock..print paper...trimmer...Marsupial "JIG" Layering Tool...adhesives/ATG...MISTI.....ink....dies...Big Shot...dimensionals..

You get the idea....right?

Then I did a rough mock of of the card idea that existed only in my crazy little card making mind....
I did...
Rough cuts of everything...and "pretend " placement of the parts and pieces of the card...
using printer paper...junky paper...
so that I wouldn't waste "the good stuff"
no adhesive involved...just pieces of the "mock-up"
created with scraps of card stock... and printer paper

Once I felt committed to what I was going to do...
I jotted down the exact measurements for precise cutting

Then...
I got out "the good stuff"...
(I always have a few hundred base cards cut and scored in white and ivory
....they're the two card base colors that I use most)
So they were already ready to roll...on standby...

I counted out 12 ivory base cards form my big stack of cards I had already cut...
and then I cut all of the mats and prints

I got out my JIG Layering Tool...
and matted the print that needed to be matted
Thanks to the JIG layering tool...
it was a cinch...and was done in a flash...
and each mat was perfect!

I set those pieces aside...
and then die cut the scalloped pieces that I knew I wanted to stamp on
It took a sec to cut them with the Big Shot EXPRESS
(Ya gotta love a motorized die cutting machine when you're doing multiples)

Then I got out the MISTI...and the ink pad...
positioned the bear...the honey pot..and the teeny tiny honey bee ...and started stamping...

Then I positioned the balloons...
and stamped stamped stamped

Done!

and then I was ready to add a little bit of color...

YAY!!
Time to assemble the cards!
(I popped up the image layer on dimensionals)

Lookin' good!
But still needing one more thing...

The sentiment...

So...I stamped the sentiments...
and die cut them..
and was ready to add them to the card

I applied dimensionals to the back of each banner...

added the banner to each card...
and wha-la!
Done!

 and...
done...done...done...done...done...done...
done...done...done...
done...and....
done!
That's 11 "dones"
It should have been 12...as i originally planned...
but I didn't know that I had fresh. wet ink on my finger....pick up one of the completed cards....
made a mess of it...
and tossed it into the trash...
so I wound up with 11 cards...
instead of 12.

Isn't he adorable?

and here's a close up...
of this cutie...his balloons..his honey pot..and the teeny tiny honey bee

So what do you think?
Will you attempt creating in multiples?
It's really a cinch...
the biggest "work" and effort is at the beginning...
when you get out all of the things that you need...
It's SO worth it though...
because you will wind up with a nice little stack of cards
and the clean up is so easy...because you haven't taken out everything that you own...
to create A...yes "A" card
"A" meaning ONE CARD

I hope that my little photo journey of how I create multiples give you confidence to try it
the next time that you sit down to create a card.....or 12!

  1. That is adorable. I like making multiples too. My good friend, she's a scrapbooker, and she can't understand why I would want to make multiples of anything. Like you I think it is relaxing. Almost as relaxing as coloring. I used to have about forty or fifty images colored, but I have dwindled that down to about ten.
