More Magic.....and Retiring the Paint Brushes for a little While

My water color weekend has extended itself into Monday.
I spent the entire day in the studio wanting to finish up the cards that I wanted to create, using the images that I had colored over the weekend.
And I did!

I also wanted to get out a new Stampin Up stamp set...Rose Wonder...and give that a whirl with some water coloring
And I did!
(I'll share pics tomorrow....I didn't have time to take any this evening)

By now, if you visited my blog yesterday...you might be feeling a little bit bored with these two florals...
But I wanted to share them because the colors are so magnificent..
(All created from a minimal assortment of ink and a few markers....I'll show a photo below)

My hope is that if you have been hesitant about trying water coloring....that these photos will encourage you to give it a try, with confidence...
And....for those who claim that they are a sloppy "colorer".....have no fear.....if you heat emboss the image first...the raised embossing is a wonderful barrier for keeping the water and ink side of the lines!

Also...if you're unsure about which water color paper to try...I give a BIG thumbs up to Crafter's Companion Water Color Paper...(Available on their web site)
It's hefty...tolerates misting and movement of the brush wonderfully (no pilling or thinning).....and it dries beautifully.

Okay...here we go....hope you enjoy all of the gorgeous colors...

(I have become attached to these cards...it's going to be so hard to make them available for purchase through my etsy shop!)

Card Loving friends: The Bellissima Cardshop Grand Re-Opening is this weekend....Friday....the 26th
All of the cards below will be available for purchase at the Bellissima Cards Card Shop at etsy (.com)....The link to the shop is at the top of this blog page.

Card making friends...The supply list for the cards shown in this blogpost is minimal....so I've posted a photo below....
Thanks for visiting...
Don't forget to leave me a comment....(I love comments!)

Some basic supplies...and let the water coloring begin!
(Love Love Love the ZIG Clean Color Real Brush Markers and the amazing Altenew ink colors.)
Missing from the photo: brushes..water receptacle, paper etc

And now...let the card parade begin....
These were all water colored on Saturday and Sunday...
Today I created the cards.

Are you ready for a color extravaganza?
Wait  til you see what adding a few ink colors together on a misted piece of water color paper can create!
By the way...I am so annoyed..I think that there was a filter in the "on" position when I took all of these photos...because they all have a haze over them...
Sorry...hope that you can still appreciate the colors
I think that the second photo of each card shows the color better than the shot of the upright card...

The coral and pink mix  is so pretty....one of my faves.

and my other fave
oh heck...what am I saying...
they're all my faves...
but this is one that I love a little bit extra!
This blue and purple are exactly like the hydrangeas that we had in our garden...
(I know.....I am repeating myself...I mentioned this in yesterday's blog post )

Anther fave...
see?
I told you...They're ALL my faves...
A few people asked me which image I liked working with more...
I chose this one...The Hydrangea...because I like that there are lots of petals and quite a few leaves..
All of those petals are a water color wonderland and to me and represent the opportunity to play with color and explore shading & depth by adding color to the crevices..nooks and crannies....
and areas of shadow.
The more detail..the better....
Not to mention that the gold embossing is ideal on a detailed image like this one.
Now you  know which image I liked working with best...and why.
Your life is complete!

Pink and lavender tones....
(I'm not going to say it......the "fave" thing)
But it is.
A fave.
oops
I said it.

A few different yellows..and touch of coral..
a very slight touch of coral
I should have been more daring with this one

This started out as a pink flower...
The ink wasn't thrilling me...
So..I hit the image with the mister to get it nice and wet...and added some ruby ink...
and wha-la..
it made it from the "eh" list....
to the fave list...
I also love this sentiment....
"Those we love don't go away. They walk beside us every day"

....and the last one....
Lots of colors in this one....
I took a chance...
played it by ear as I went along...
and in the end...
to my fave list it goes...
pink..yellow..coral..pink....
a chance worth taking.

And this, my friends, is the end of what I wound up with after a weekend + a day of water coloring.
It was lots of fun....very relaxing...and something that I will definitely do again.
But for now...I am retiring the paint brushes...
just for a little bit..
I've got some stamps I want to try out (traditional stamping and layered stamping)
and a bunch of dies that I can't wait to get my hands on

I'll be back in a day or two to share the cards that I'll be making tomorrow with the Rose Wonder water colored images that I painted today.
