DAY 5: Blue Knight Rubber Stamps Week & GIVEAWAY

Hello my crafty friends!
Can you believe that it's already Day 5 of
Blue Knight Rubber Stamps Week & GIVEAWAY, here at my blog?

Somehow, while I've been enjoying creating cards....
This week passed too quickly!

Here's a little summary of what is yet to come...
Today...I'll be sharing 3 new cards..
Tomorrow...I will share a re-cap of ALL of this weeks cards
Saturday...The 2 GIVEAWAY Winners will be announced here at the blog.
Sunday....I'll be a mope...feeling sad...because Blue Knight Week will be over.

But today....I'm VERY excited!
I am LOVING the stamps that I used to create today's cards.
Love Love Love
Wanna see the Blue Knight stamps?
Here they are...

Peaceful Lake (left)...... and Sailboats (right)

I also used  a Happy Birthday sentiment
from the Best Wishes stamp set

When I placed my order at Blue Knight Rubber Stamps
for all of the stamps that I used for this week's cards
I also picked up a set of 48 Royal & Langnickel Soft Pastels.
When I saw them on the Blue Knight web site,
I was reminded of how much I used to enjoy coloring with pastels.
As I got more into pencil coloring...alcohol marker coloring and water coloring
I drifted away from using soft pastels.
I'm guessing that I haven't used pastels in about 15 years.
I thought that it was time to work with soft pastels again...
So...I ordered the set of 48 Soft Pastels...and a supply of Fantastix!

I  immediately reached for the pastels when creating the Peaceful Lake card...
Because I wanted to add a soft porcelain color tint to the image.
(not heavy darker coloring)
The soft pastels allowed me to achieve that look.
I also used the Heidi Pettie Cloud Stencil to create a cloudy sky
with the pastels
(A very different cloudy look as compared to using the stencil
with ink pads and Clarity Stencil Brushes...
which is how I usually create cloudy skies)
When the coloring was complete...
I chose a print and solid cherry colored card stock for matting.
And...
this is what I wound up with!

Did I mention that I want to be on the shore of this lake right now!
"Peaceful Lake" is the ideal name for this stamp.
Reuniting with soft pastel coloring was wonderful...
and I was reminded about WHY it's so enjoyable...and relaxing.

After I created the Peaceful Lake card...
I created 2 cards with the gorgeous Sailboats stamp set.
Here's something extra awesome about the sailboats stamp set...
It consists of two sailboat stamps...
one large...one small.
I loved that I had the option of creating cards with 2 different sized images.

I added color to the sailboat cards with Copic markers
and did some basic layering and matting.
I chose a great ivory map print for one of the cards
and added knotted cotton twine to the other.
I added clouds to the sky with the Heidi Pettie Cloud stencil
and ink lifted from an ink pad with Clarity Stencil Brushes.
I am so pleased with both cards.
I LOVE them.
And never want to send them to anyone!
I want to keep them...forever!
(Did I just say that out loud?)

But alas...it was time to set the Peaceful Lake aside...
and ink up the Sailboats!

Look at this gorgeous image!
Be still my heart!
And the Cloud Stencil?
How did I ever live without this stencil!
(Secret: Since discovering this stencil at the Blue Knight web site last Spring...
I have started hoarding them...Yes...I have 3 Cloud Stencils..."Just in case")
In case of what...I do not know...
But...I have 3...just in case,.

You can see the knotted cotton twine nicely in this photo
as well as the matting.
The cherry red card stock was perfect,I think....
for picking up the red on the boat.

After the love affair with the large sailboat...
It was time to create a card with the smaller sailboat.
If you thought that I was over the moon enough for the larger sailboat card
take a seat for what's about to come...
Me...and some genuine stamp loving lunacy.
Holy Schmoly.
This card makes my little card making heart go skip a beat.

Oh my..
The sailboat....The clouds...The map print card stock...
The kraft card stock matting...the hint of red beneath the image layer...
and the hand-cut matted sentiment banner.
For me..it's true love.

I was so happy to be feeling the love
as I created his last card for Blue Knight Rubber Stamps week!

This is a card that I will make many of ...
Exactly as you see it here....
Just to keep on hand.

This has been a fun and inspiring week for me.
Creating cards with so many new Blue Knight stamps was wonderful!
I'm looking forward to sharing a recap with you tomorrow.
I hope that you found a little bit of inspiration of your own
here at my blog this week

DAY 4: Blue Knight Rubber Stamps Week & GIVEAWAY

Hello my crafty friends!
Welcome to day 4 of Blue Knight Rubber Stamps & GIVEAWAY here at my blog!

I have been having the best time this week...
sharing cards that I've created with so many terrific Blue Knight stamps...
and today...
I am excited x's 10!

I love to color images...
Pencils coloring...
Water coloring...
Alcohol marker coloring...
Pastels...
Inks...
Pigments
I love it all!
All of this coloring-love could only mean that
I was really looking forward to inking up
and getting busy with some coloring!

But first...let me introduce you to
Mark & Salem.......and  Tracie and Bailey
(You can find both stamps HERE, at the Blue Knight Rubber Stamps web site)

The sentiments used when creating today's cards are
Legendary (left)...... and Once in a Lifetime (right)

After enjoying silhouette stamping for a few days
my crafty little hands were eager to pick up some markers
and get bust coloring!
and...
This is what I whipped up!

I love blue and tan together..
and decided to make that the color palette for this card.
I chose some nice masculine style prints that went well with the image colors
and matted the prints and sentiment piece with navy and kraft colored card stock.
I stamped the image...trimmed it..and double matted it with a print and navy card stock...
but first...I inked the edges a bit/
I die cut the image piece with a large tag die
and used the tag die as a stencil for inking the edges of the die cut tag.
I added a small hole to the top of the tag with my Crop-a-dile
and added some raw twine to finish the tag.
I positioned the image tag with fun foam for added lift and dimension.

I loved coloring this image and creating this card
and I am thrilled that Blue Knight has a great selection of images
that highlight physically challenged children

After Mark & Salem were colored and transformed into a card..
It was time to create a card with Tracie & Bailey!
*Yay...more coloring!*

I colored this image with Copic markers as well...
but instead of choosing a print...
I opted to create my own background
(One that would go with the colors and mood of the image...
as well as complementing the flowers on Tracie's pants.

So...I got out my Ken Oliver Colorburst Inks pads...
a little spray bottle of water..
and a Sheena Douglass retro style stencil...
and I got busy creating the background.

The magic happened when the inked card stock was spritzed with water
and left to dry.
The colors blend and move and transform themselves !
Once the spritzed piece had dried..I added some stenciled flowers
Spritzed lightly again...
Let the piece dry...

and then...
I created this card...
(I love this sentiment!)
The image piece was die cut with a double stitched rectangle die...
I used the die...as I did with the card above...
as a stencil for creating the background by brushing ink onto the card stock.
(I matted the image piece, the sentiment and the inked background piece
with the same deep turquoise card stock.)
The matted image piece was positioned with fun foam for added dimension.
I stamped this wonderful sentiment onto white card stock
Trimmed it to size...inked the edges a bit... then matted  the sentiment piece
and positioned it with foam dimensionals.

I couldn't be happier with this inked....spritzed and stenciled background!
The colors are perfect
(thank you Ken Oliver Colorburst Inks)
The reactive qualities of the spritzed ink gave me the exact look that I was going for!
and..
the overlay of stenciled flowers pulled it all together, I think.

Creating each of today's cards was so enjoyable!
I got to Color...create a background with reactive ink...
I got to do some die cutting and stenciling.
I got to envision today's cards in my head...
and I got to create them...exactly as I had wanted them to be!
Now that's the stuff that card making dreams are made of!

and...
I'd love for YOU to have a chance to dream up your own Mark and Tracie cards

Day 3: Blue Knight Rubber Stamps Week , a GIVEAWAY and a Video Tutorial

Hello my crafty friends!

Welcome to Day 3 of Blue Knight Rubber Stamps & GIVEAWAY Week,
here at my blog!

The week is passing quickly....
and I'm having a great time creating cards with so many terrific stamps!
I hope that you've been enjoying this special week as well.

Today I'm sharing 2 cards...(and a speedy video tutorial)
Both cards are happy...cheerful..fun and bright
and have lots of little details that make each one pop and sparkle and shine.

I've got lots to share today...
So I am going to jump right in...
and start the sharing!

Today's card were created with some great Blue Knight Rubber Stamps sets...
The first card was created with
the You & Me stamp set

and the second card...the shaker card...was created with the following stamp sets...
I'll Never Stop Believing (left).....and....Best Wishes (right)

The first card that I'm sharing today
was created with the You & Me stamp set.
and...it's also the card featured in this video tutorial.

I just love this large stamp
and the pairings of so many recognizable duos!
I, myself, am an Ethel...to 3 of my dearest red headed Lucy friends
with whom I have been known to get into many antics with since childhood!
(What are the chances that my 3 closest dearest lifelong childhood friends would all have red hair!)
This being said...it makes sense that I would opt to create a Lucy & Ethel card!

The video that I've shared above will show you how to create this window card
with a dynamic duo of your choice being the highlighted name.
I think that this stamp is so clever and versatile.
I'm so glad that I've added it to my stamp-stash.

I hand cut a small glittery arrow as an embellishment...

...and added the You & Me sentiment to the inside of the card.
You'll be amazed at how easy it was to create this card...
So be sure to check out the video (above)

After Lucy and Ethel were complete...
I created another a bright shimmery  card.

I have to say that I am NOT a big shaker card person...
BUT...I made a shaker card!
I started out by creating a foiled mat layer with
the start pattern from
Gina K's Foil Mates Stars and Stripes Background foil-able elements.
I chose a rainbow foil...so the foiled stars have lots of varied color.
I chose bright pink and black card stock colors for matting.
I used my MISTI stamping tool and Gina K's AMALGAM INK to stamp the image.
(My new favorite ink for silhouette stamping
because it gives a nice solid jet black image)
Once the image was stamped..
I die cut it with a stitched rectangle die
and matted it with black card stock.
Next...I created the shaker pouch by adding sequins to the pouch and sealing it.
(I used a cello-envelope for the shaker pouch)
I die cut a rectangle "window" in the center of the foiled piece
and used fun foam to position the foiled star piece.
I also stamped the sentiment and created  quadruple matting for the sentiment
with foiled pieces and card stock pieces.

This was a fun card to create!
I'm so glad that I created a shaker card ...
The first, for me...in a very long long time.

And now..
it's time to remind you about the giveaway.

If you have a USA address...
just leave a comment below to be "in" on the giveaway.
2 Winners will be chosen and announced here at the blog on Saturday
Winner #1 will have the opportunity to choose one of the silhouette stamps on the left...
and winner #2 will have the opportunity to choose one of the stamps on the right
(Mark and Salem...or Tracie and Bailey)
**You'll have an entry to each comment that you post
each day during Blue Knight Rubber Stamps Week....
There's still time to visit prior blog posts and to post a comment.

Thanks a bunch for visiting today my crafty and creative friends!
I hope that you've found a little bit of inspiration here at my blog today!
