Wintry Book Marks

I always get excited when I am asked to create some book marks.
They're fun to make...and to me, they're like working on a mini card.
So...when I was asked to create Wintry book marks...
Not Christmassy...just "Wintry"
I went through all of  my Winter and Holiday stamp sets...
and pulled out sets that had smaller images that would be an ideal size for a book mark.

I decided to use a few different sets...
and thought that I might mix and match stamps from different sets.

The stamp sets that I chose to create the book marks with were:
Happy Holidays....by Hero Arts
Winter Scene.....also by Hero Arts

At the end of the evening...I had an assortment of 10 book marks...
I used an assortment of ink pads to stamp the images...
and then added some additional color with my beloved Clarity Stencil brushes.
Each book mark has a metallic card stock mat layer.
The tag top was created with a Stampin Up Tag topper punch.
Each book mark was finished with ribbon and some touches of Clear Wink of Stella...
for some sparkle on the snowman...trees..berries and pine cones.

I was happy with what I had created...
and was ready to turn off the studio lights...
and call it a day.
And then...
I spotted The Ton's Fresh Cut Poinsettias stamp set on the studio work table!!!
so...
I left the lights on...and I sat down again...
to create a few more book marks.
I love pink poinsettias ...so that's what I created.
I love the soft muted colors
and it's always fun watching an image emerge when doing layering stamping.

So...
My goal of creating 10 book marks...
wound up being  an assortment of 14 book marks!

This was a fun project
(book marks always are fun to create)
And the ideal project to ease my way back into the studio.
I actually surprised myself ...because I had zero strength and energy all day....
I was like a limp noodle...
When I headed out to the studio it was truly an effort to pull myself together to move.
I thought that I'd make 3 or 4 book marks
and call it a night.
(and that would have made me happy)
Instead..I surprised myself!

Most of all..it feels great to finally be back...if even a little bit...to "creating".

You know...
It's funny how life is...
When we are on life's merry-go-round..
we long for a day of doing nothing.
But...
When you MUST spend weeks in bed...
you long for a day of feeling better....normal...and being able to enjoy the day...
and...even a ride on life's merry-go round seems appealing.

This being said...
During this past month of bed rest...
I have become the Queen of Channel Surfing...Net Flix and the Amazon Fire Stick...
and I'm proud to say that I am now an aficionado on Hallmark Christmas movies.
See what a month in bed can do to a person??

Thanks for visiting my crafty and creative friends...
Wishing you a wonderful day!

Now go make some book marks!
