FROG vs FROG

My friend John...
who is perhaps the biggest lover of my cards....
in all of mankind (!!!)
(Thank you John for always loving my cards so much)

He mentioned to me that he loved the Penny Black TOADILY HAPPY frog card
that I shared here the other day.
So...
I whipped out the stamp...
to create a frog card for John...
and
I decided to use Spectrum (Alcohol) Markers to color the image this time...
(last time I used regular markers and pencils, together)

The difference between the two versions is very noticeable....
and so I thought that I'd share some photos with you..
so that you can see the difference...
for no other reason other than your own personal frame of reference for the future...
when YOU might not be sure which method of coloring you would like to do
when creating a card of your own.

This was the original card
(posted here a few days ago)
I used markers for the base layer of color...
and then shaded and highlighted with Spectrum Noir Blendable Pencils
based on lots of Facebook feedback...
In reading your Facebook comments...it seemed that you all thought it was super...
Lots of good things were said about the coloring..
and  this technique of layering marker and pencil color

He's cute....isn't he?
I was happy with the card...
and coloring technique...
No complaints from me about this card.
Layering markers and pencils was a nice look for this image, I thought.

But then....
I decided to create the second one...for John....
using Spectrum Noir (Alcohol) Markers only...
and this is the result...

Look at the difference!
The colors are so vibrant...

I have to say....
This version just might get my vote

Here they are....
side by side...
Markers only on the left...(the new version)
Pencil and marker (the original card)...on the right.

and....
one more photo of the two versions...
*This photo has better lighting...
so I am thinking that you'll be able to see the comparison much better.
Top: The original card...Pencil and marker combo coloring
Bottom: Second version...Alcohol marker coloring only.

So what do you think?
Do you have a favorite?
John's favorite is the second version...
so that's the one that I will be sending to him.

I hope that this quickie little blog post about different coloring techniques is helpful to you...
and that you'll give both a try....to see which you prefer
Have a great day!
Michelle.
