Different Day...Same Sketch (YAY!)

You're going to recognize today's sketch...
as soon as you see it.

That's because you just saw it in the prior blog post!
(the New Home/Congratulations card has the same sketch design)

I love this sketch for a card design for a few reasons.
1. It's a good sketch for mixing a little bit of print with a lot of solid.
2. I get to sneak in a bit of embossing (I LOVE texture on cards)
3. I get to use that adorable little mini scalloped rectangle die set.
4 It's got a lot going on...yet it's still CAS!
(and we all know that CAS = ME!)

I picked up this adorable little stamp set last month
at a great little stamp and scrap shop in Pennsylvania
and have been waiting patiently for some time to use it...
and see what I much come up with.

I've also been "collecting" some great paper pads
that are filled from front to back with plaid prints...
and only plaid prints...
I love plaids...
(I love plaids.....and I am cuckoo for polka dots...so I "collect" both)

So...
today was the day to get out this new stamp set
and a new pad of plaid paper...
and...
it was time to put my favorite sketch to work (YAY!)

and...
here's what I came up with!

A sweet first birthday card for a little princess that we love to pieces...
and who will be turning one this coming weekend!

Isn't this little character holding the cake adorable?
I stamped him out on  the light pink card stock...
and then cut him out using my Scan N Cut
(love that machine)
Actually...I think that he is adorable.....and bordering on goofy looking.
Which is why I immediately loved it...when I found it in the shop in Pennsylvania.
and...
Oh!... that plaid!
The colors in the plaid are fantastic, I think..
and I added a few highlights to the image in colors that coordinated with the plaid.
The number one is perfect for the front of this card....
(I stamped "Happy Birthday" on the inside of the card)
The scalloped rectangle and the cute little character are both popped up on low profile dimensionals.

This card makes me smile...
I love the image...
love the plaid.....
love the colors...
love the sequins
love love love the mini scallop die...
I love that I snuck in a little bit of swiss dots embossing.
and..
I love that even with a lot going on...
it's still a CAS card...100%

I'm thinking that this sketch
will be one that I go back to many times
in the future.
Twice this week...
and more to come.

As for this card...
It is already on it's way to the sweet little princess that will be turning one this weekend!

Card loving friends...this card will be available later this week...at The Bellissima Card Shop ....as a general birthday card...with a stamped sentient on the front...instead of a number one
