Tips & Tricks: Invisible Mounting Tape...and some info about some upcoming RAK-y Giveaways

In my crafting life..there are a few things that fall into the "just not right" category...
The things that bother me..and wont let me feel like a finished card just isn't the best that it can be.

At the top of that list is white foam mounting tape....
on a dark colored card.

I just don't like white mounting tape being visible on a dark colored card.

It bothers me
 A lot

I used to order large spools of black mounting tape from a local stamp company...
at a great price...
a huge huge spool....for a fraction of what most large spools of mounting tape cost...
but they have since gone out of business...
and I have yet to find a similar product...at that  price..

so..I have created my own little trick to remedy the problem of
white mounting tape being visible...under a layer of card stock on a dark colored card.

I don't make many dark colored cards...
but when I do....
I don't want the mounting tape showing if the card it held at a slant...or sideways.
That would really bother me....a lot.
Some things should NEVER be seen
This is one of them
(if you ask me!)

So...here's my little trick...
and...
I am sharing it with you!

Okay..so here's the mounting tape that I used to attach some black die cut numbers to a card.
It's white...
It' a given that it will be visible under the back die cut numbers
when they're attached to the card front

So to "fix" that problem...
I just take a black Sharpie...and color in the exposed foam edges
on all 4 sides of the tape after it's been positioned on the underside of the card stock.
(I usually use black..but any dark colored marker would work
something like......chocolate brown...navy blue...
If you've created a monochromatic card (one color only)
you can make your mounting tape "invisible" by using the same color marker..or even an ink pad
(just drag the edges of the tape over the ink pad until the white edges are covered in ink

I needed multiple pieces of mounting tape under the die cut number
and colored each piece on all 4 exposed sides...
This is the end product

and here is the completed card...with the view under the black die cut number
after it was attached to the card front...
Much better than looking under there and seeing white foam!

Yep....
there's "invisible" mounting tape under those numbers...
and in my card making world....
that's a beautiful thing!

and that's it...
Simple
Easy
and it works like a charm!
